In class today, we went over the 20 questions about Goethe homework and then went over the exam. After that we did a group activity where we were supposed to choose from a list of items, the most important when stranded on the moon for 4 days while waiting for help from a rescue spaceship. Nathan Wukie was in my group and he came up with a hilarious story with the items that would best defend against alien attacks. After that, we got strips of paper with sentences on them that contain bits of information about a mystery. We had to figure out as a group who the criminal was by using logic. After that we did the course evaluation, and we were finished. Overall it was an easy course and was helpful in many areas. Our teacher was able to make everything we were learning into fun activities.

After class we went to the Chocolate Museum, which is run by the Swiss chocolate company Lindt. Mmmmm we got a free chocolate in the beginning and throughout the entire museum it smelled like chocolate. The was also a part with a chocolate fountain that we could sample with a wafer. The museum talked all about how chocolate is made, where it’s made, who the customers are, and how it affects your health. I learned that it has a positive effect on most of your organs. Of course there is sugar in chocolate, so it’s not good to eat a lot of it. There we also were able to see the chocolate making process. We saw all the grinding, mixing, hardening, stamping, and wrapping machines. They were actually making chocolate there and it was really cool to see how it was done. At the end we went into the huge gift shop. It was hard to suppress the urge to buy chocolate in there.
After that, down the street we saw a Senfmuseum (mustard museum). We’ve noticed that the Germans in this area are really passionate about their mustard. We’ve seen lots of mustard specialty shops. Anyway, this wasn’t really a museum, but a shop that had all kinds of mustard. They had mustard flavors with cayenne, with Riesling wine, with Indian curry sauce, with honey, with beer, the historic original, and others. I tried them all and they were super good. They sold bockwurst in there for 2 euros with whatever mustard you wanted to dip into, so I got one with some of the beer mustard. It was SUPER tasty. I had never had craft mustard before that, and it was amazing. We were going to just walk past it but randomly decided to give it a try, and we all walked away surprised at what we found.
After that, we walked around the Dom area for a little bit and then went back to the hostel to begin packing up our bags for our train rides out of Cologne tomorrow. I got sidetracked a little bit and played some ping pong, but eventually got my stuff packed before going to bed.
Corey Knapke and I are both working in the same department at BMW and our train leaves for Munich at 9:55 tomorrow morning. We should be arriving around 3 and checking in at the hostel we reserved there. We’re going to be staying at a Catholic hostel Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night until we can move in to our dorm at BMW on Monday, our first day of work. We chose the Catholic hostel because we figured it might be safer there since we’ll have all our luggage with us and we don’t want anything to get stolen.
Going to bed so I’m rested for the big day tomorrow. Goodnight!
